Black Dog

Have you ever tried to get a great dane to sit still for a drawing? Portrait sitting is not Odhin Joy’s strong point. I ended up having to get a lot of this from a photo reference on the net. It’s funny to me how their expression can be so intelligent, inquizitive, and stupid all at the same time. Must be why they are called “Man’s” best friend.

How sweet and innocent you made this dane! Alas, don’t be fooled by the ears flat against the head to make him look all meek and mild…do you see that tongue! But he just makes you smile…and the intensity of his eyes makes you feel like he is looking at you.
